This all started with the black and white hounds tooth coat. Such a classic! I thought the red would really make it pop. And, well one thing lead to another. This makes me think of the 60's.
Here is my tag I made. I was playing with acrylic paints for the background. The stamped face on the front is by Non Sequitur Stamps and the back is a Teesha Moore face and the Serendipity is by Ma Vinci, I think. Originally I stamped the face right on the painted surface and it didn't show up well so I stamped it on tissue and cut out the face and glued it over top thus you can still see the influence of the paint colours without loosing the face. The same was true of the face on the back but I stamped it on some fun orange print wrapping paper and glued it over top. I am very happy with the results.
This funky troll was at a hotel in Las Vegas that a friend took a photo of, thanks John! The tag is by Robin Moore of Florida and just seemed like the perfect accent to the rest of the spread. I have done a series of pages in Autumn colours in my big 9 x 12 journal. The fall colours have been really influencing my work.
The Byhand Yahoo group just started a fun challenge. The first one is "Use Eyelets" This is the front and back of my ATC. I used alcohol and the Adirondack inks for the background on glossy paper and then threaded gold thread through my eyelets. I made a similar one with thread some time ago and seeing Yogi's card with thread inspired me to try it again. Quote on the back is Quietfire Design of course! Face is by Non Sequitur.
The days are going short and its frosty in the mornings the leaves are nearly finished falling. Time for getting cozy by the fire with a hot drink and for indoor activities like art journalling. :) Like I need an excuse. LOL! I have been playing with these pages for a while now. I think I may add more paint. we'll see.
Working in my journal I was inspired to do the background after I found the image of the woman on the right side. I choose the colours from her dress and sponged on acrylics in layer after layer. I then used the technique Misty Mawn taught at Artfest for painting the face but modified it somewhat and I am very happy with the results. On the left side I used a print on canvas that I originally did as a watercolour. I photographed it on my patio when the bright summer sun was casting shadows of the branches on my page. I love the lighting that resulted. I am not sure if I am finished these pages but I like them so far. :)
