December Buddha

Buddha is glowing! With all the rain and just plain high humidity the moss looks as happy as I have ever seen it. I took some photos last week of my Buddha and today I was playing around with them in Photoshop. I added several layers of frost from a window pane photo to give it more of a December feel. I am not the greatest calligrapher, this says Friendship or at least it is supposed to. We have only had snow once for about a few hours before it melted and all gone. Lots of mornings have had frost and ice. I have had this Christmas week off and it has been nice to snuggle in bed and sleep in and do some art. Ahhhhhhhhh. :)

Christmas 1960

I don't too many family pages but I made my Mom a binder of memory pages for her 75th birthday. Well that was 7 or 8 years ago now but I make new pages for it instead of giving her cards. Here is this years Christmas page. I was 2 years old and my brother Jeff and Larry are 8 and 10. The pastel of the dog and mouse is done by my mom and was actually hanging on the wall in this photograph. I made a special trip over to my folks house and took some photos of it to add it back in to my page. This photo was one of the first colour photos my dad took and the colour was kind of off. I decided I liked it better in sepia tones. Geesh, look how formal the picture is compared to now a days. I think this will be a hit with my mom. :)
Makes you warm and fuzzy inside.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Burgundy and Brown Challenge by ByHand Group

Here is my version of Burgundy and Brown. Create without Limits is one of my favorite quotes from Suzanne @ Quietfire Designs. I used a Pilot Parallel Pen for the large writing, Have mercy on my penmanship it is a bit wobbly. The hand in the center is a page I cut out by tracing my hand after covering both sides with decorative papers. I love pages in a journal of unexpected shapes!
I wanted an abstract looking rose so I used a credit card to paint instead of a brush. There is layers of acrylic paint on both sides but more heavy layers and textures on the rose side. I would like to maybe also add some bees wax to the rose. Hmmmmmm
