Artistic Style

What does artistic style mean to you? Is it the subject you always draw? The media you always use? Or is it something more intangible? Hmmmm

Like success there are many different interpretations.

LOVE these kinds of questions, and always fun to hear what others think. using the term lightly, to me i think it pertains to some style i might lean towards...and there is not always a certain name for the style, and mine changes constantly, i love that...so much to learn, so much to do! :)

All I know is that I don't have one and I will only have it when im dead and gone. Like taste, style evolves every day.

My husband tells me I have to learn to embrace my own style. I told him I would as soon as my style ceased to be described as "amateurish". :)

Wanda I agree my style if I have one is never static for long. There is so much I want to learn. Right now I am into faces and learning to draw. Two things that gave me the most fear and now I can't stop. I used to be too scared to draw in front of someone else let alone show someone something I drew. Its been such and interesting and enjoyable journey.

Lianne try asking another artist what they think your style is. My girl friend and I did that for each other and it was very enlightening.

Melydia, Ouch! your inner critic sounds like it is impeding on your creative flow. Treat yourself to a few new colours and smoosh them about on a journal page. Just play! Your imagery is lovely.

Thanks for your wonderful comments it is a fascinating subject isn't it?

I think it's much easier to see someone else's style. I'm too close to my own stuff to see it, I guess. I can recognize Patti's style anywhere, though! :)

Ahh- such a good question about style: I think mine changes 'with the wind', but I do always return to my fave subject-faces, and my beloved pen. Happy weekend to you!
