Here is a fun little video I did of my simple tunnel in my journal. I think it would be cool to make a more elaborate one. We'll see . . .
In the mean time. click here to see it.
Here is a photo of another tunnel, although it is only one cut page so I don't know if its technically a tunnel.
For this tunnel I did the art on the page first and then decided to cut it out and mount the face on the page below giving a tunnel like effect.

Round Gelli plate fun
This is going to be my new art journal. Its a 24 x 36" sheet of print making paper.
Inspired by the new 8" round gelli plate.
I used my Catalyst tools and wall paper to create patterns on the gelli plate with fluid acrylic paint and then transferred them to the paper.
This is the back side.
I then cut the paper in four and made a simple pamphlet fold book.

The cool Pilot Parallel Pen for Art Journaling
I thought I would pass on a few tips on one of my favourite pens. The Pilot parallel pen. The nib comes in different widths and they are really cool to use with the thin edge too.
Walnut ink on cold press watercolour paper
I used my pen for the lettering and the thick and thin wavy lines on the right side of this page.
These pens have cartridges and they write really nicely. And you can travel with them easily as you don't need to dip them. One thing to note is they use water soluble ink which can be a drawback for some purposes. This is also cool thing too. One thing I do is to write with a really wide nib on some nice quality paper and then spray it with water and let the ink run and drip. You can it drip a little or a lot whatever your preference, then let it dry. Once its dry, I go over the lettering again and it really pops but has the cool drippy effect in the background.
The lettering is walnut ink and I also used one with olive green ink around the blobs.
You can use any water soluble ink in these pens. I got a little tool called a pipette which works like an eye dropper and have bought some lovely French inks to use in my Pilot pen. One great tip I heard and I do it myself now is to not even bother with the cartridge when I refill I just use the barrel of the pen which holds way more ink and I don't have any leakage problems. And my last tip is I love walnut ink and you can use it too in these pens. Just make sure you mix it really well and not to thick so it flows nicely.
And you can see the pen itself in detail here to find out the basics what comes with them in the package. I purchased mine at my local art store, Island Blue Print but you can also order them online from Dick Blick and even Amazon too.

Gelli plate play
I used the Gelli plate on my canvas to add colour and texture. It started off with skeletons of Magnolia leaves. Not sure where this one is going next. Hmmmmm.
Next is a series of loose sheets.
This first one is my favorite. I love the purple and gold together.
I am thinking the rest of these loose sheets will be folded and bound into a new journal.

Small stitched HandBook Journal 5.5 inches square

Even smaller Strathmore Mixed media journal (3.5x5 inch)
I have started a journal about herbs. This is a big one 9 x 12 inches. My herb garden is doing so well I am harvesting lots not only for the table but also for salves and tinctures. This new journal to do keep track of recipes as well as for some illustrations and other documentations.

Lots of Gelli plate action in this journal.
Gone Wild with the Gelli-plate
Kell and I had a glorious art date yesterday! We got the Gelli-plate out and played and played. I completely filled my 3.75x5.5 inch Moleskine with Gelli Prints using acrylic paint. All 80 pages!
Here are some of them.
This is my favourite.
This one make me think of the gemstone Rhodonite
Also used Ginko leaves and bubble wrap on this one.
Love the way the colours blend on the Gelli plate.
I used several journals not just the Moleskine. You can see the wire binding from my other journal.
I'll post some more pages soon. :)
