Journalling Away . . . . . .

Croak!!!Lately I have been very smitten with the texture from bubble wrap. The crow page is cheese cloth, acrylic paint, pastels, white gel pen and white Permapaque pen.

The Wild mind is done with a black sharpie and pastels. The lettering with a Pilot Parallel pen.

A gnarly old tree appeared out of the golden light. I think something is flying in the sky but I can't quite make it out. :)

I never thought I would like felt pens again but I am having a lot of fun with the black sharpie over acrylics.

Pears in Pastels

Playing around with pastels again. When I started watercolouring I did lots of pears. This is my first ones in pastel and I did it in my journal. My name is done with ruling pen. Yah its Friday! The weekend is almost here.

Soft Trees

I was inspired after look at the art of Brittani Faulkes to try a pastel of some funky soft round trees. I have a variety of pastels that I am having fun experimenting with, Sticks hard and soft, Pans and Charcoal Pencils. I love how you can blend colours. and make the shading very light or very dramatic. I am not sure what I was expecting but I am liking them more than I thought I would. Portraits in pastels

adding a ruby's portrait to my journal. I had a band of ochre honeycombs to start. I don't know Ruby but she is inspired by the beautiful portrait Anne Bagby did in the "True Colors" book by Stampington. She was working in Keely Barham's black journal. It is still one of my favorite books. Not sure where my journal spread will go from here. A quote maybe. Did I tell you I love my journals lately? I couldn't live with out them now. :) I find they are becoming more an expression of me the more I work in them.

Its the WEEKEND!!!!!

Playing with pastels and found (free) ephemera for Journal page backgrounds. I am so happy the weekend is upon us. Now to brew a cup of java and sit in the sun on the patio and read art books AHHHHHH! Have a great weekend everyone :)
